MHPN Board Chair John Rasa said Dr Brooke was appointed after an extensive and extremely competitive selection process. “She is an outstanding choice, bringing a unique combination of clinical experience leading interdisciplinary teams and senior strategic management expertise,” he said.

With a PhD and Clinical Psychology Doctorate, Dr Brooke has held a variety of positions leading strategy development in health, government, sport, member-based and not-for-profit organisations, including recent roles at the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, and as the Executive General Manager, Professional Practice at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She also has extensive experience at Board level, including a current position as an Independent Director for the Victorian Jockeys’ Association.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr Brooke said she was excited to build on the strong foundations laid by the inaugural CEO Chris Gibbs and will focus on MHPN’s growth, innovation and continued contribution to the contemporary mental health landscape.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Board and dedicated team at MHPN to strengthen multi-disciplinary practice across the country,” she said. “Engaging with member organisations, network coordinators, practitioners, partners and funders will be a priority when I commence in the role.”

Following a handover from Chris Gibbs to ensure a smooth transition, Dr Brooke will start her new role on 2 April.
