Dr Reilly is Medical Director, Mental Health Service Group (MHSG), Townsville Hospital and Health Service and has links with James Cook University Medical School Department of Psychiatry. He chairs the RANZCP Education Committee’s Subcommittee for Advanced Training in Addictions and the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry’s Queensland Branch Committee.
Dr Reilly has worked as a general adult psychiatrist since 1992 in inpatient, (both acute and rehabilitation) and community settings including across acute care, intensive and standard case management, homelessness, alcohol and other drug and forensic teams.
He has particular interests in substance use disorders and their comorbidity with other mental health disorders, early psychosis, borderline personality disorder and rural and remote mental health service delivery.
Dr Reilly has been a Clinical Director and a manager of mental health services in Victoria and Queensland since 1997 and had a focus on clinical governance, including critical incident management, and quality improvement processes, including clinical documentation and handover.
