The Asian Mental Health Professionals' Network (AMHPN) was founded by Josh Nguyen to foster connection, collaboration, and culturally responsive mental healthcare for Asian communities across Australia.The Network builds upon the Asian Mental Health Professional Network Facebook community (since 2024), coordinated by Patrick Pham and Josh Nguyen, which brings together mental health professionals, researchers, and students with a shared interest in Asian mental health, multicultural practice, and workforce development.The Network is co-led by Karishma Rajan Menon and Josh Nguyen. Through quarterly hybrid meetings, guest speakers, case discussions, and professional networking events, we aim to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, share evidence-informed practice, and support culturally responsive mental healthcare for Asian communities.We welcome psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, counsellors, peer workers, and mental health clinicians who are interested in advancing Asian mental health in Australia.Network CoordinatorsJosh NguyenJosh Nguyen (He/him) is a clinical psychologist, researcher and community leader who is passionate about driving meaningful changes in mental health systems, especially for marginalised communities. His work focuses on using AI to predict and prevent suicide in youth and determinants of mental health among LGBTQ+ populations. Josh is running a psychology clinic in Parkville, providing psychological treatment to individuals and couples of LGBTQ+ and/or multicultural backgrounds.  Karishma Rajan Menon Karishma Rajan Menon (she/her) is a clinical psychologist, supervisor and researcher committed to making evidence-based mental health care more accessible and culturally responsive. Her work centres on attachment and skills-based interventions, and blended care models—spanning groups, community and digital delivery. Karishma also provides supervision to early career clinicians with particular focus on therapeutic processes and multicultural mental health. She practices privately and at Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD), St Vincent’s Hospital. This network unites GPs and non-psychiatrist mental health professionals for a safe, interactive and collaborative open forum where you can ask practical questions about day-to-day work with patients experiencing mental health issues. Sessions focus on real-time advice, evidence-informed guidance, and clear management options. The style is honest, inclusive, collegial and vibrant, with direct Q&A and concise teaching points. The Network aims to strengthen collaborative care and clinician confidence in responding to mental health presentations. Meetings are held virtually via webinar every two months, ensuring accessible and timely support for practitioners.The network meets bi-monthly and provides access to guest speakers and case-based discussions.Join the network to be added to the mailing list and receive invitations to future meetings.Network Coordinator:Dr Steven Chau | MBBS BA MPSYCH FRANZCP (FADLP)Dr Steven Chau is a senior consultant psychiatrist and Director of Melbourne Mental Health with over a decade of experience in private practice. He is passionate about improving public mental health literacy and sincerely believes in a collaborative biopsychosocial framework of care. He practises with open and honest communication with patients and referrers. Of the 1 in 22 parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis of a major congenital anomaly, many experience shock, distress and anxiety and PTSD. Parents can find it difficult to find support at this time-sensitive period and beyond. This network aims to bring the psychosocial side of prenatal diagnosis out of the shadows. Network members will share experiences and expertise for supporting families through prenatal diagnosis and what comes beyond.
