Perinatal Mental Health

The network aims to bring together practitioners, invite speakers for education sessions, provide a platform for professional development and peer support, give an understanding of how services & practitioners can work collaboratively to better support women's mental health, strengthen professional relationships and enhance referral pathways.

Of the 1 in 22 parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis of a major congenital anomaly, many experience shock, distress and anxiety and PTSD. Parents can find it difficult to find support at this time-sensitive period and beyond. This network aims to bring the psychosocial side of prenatal diagnosis out of the shadows. Network members will share experiences and expertise for supporting families through prenatal diagnosis and what comes beyond.

Our North East Melbourne Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Professionals Network (NEMPI MHPN) meets quarterly with alternating face-to-face and online via Zoom to offer a collaborative space grounded in attachment-informed, developmentally attuned, and neuro-inclusive practice. 

The network supports continuing education, reflective dialogue, and cross-disciplinary learning focused on the wellbeing of parents, infants, and young children. Sessions explore early relational development, co-regulation, perinatal transitions, and the diverse ways families connect, communicate, and thrive. Professionals from all fields interested in fostering safe, inclusive, and responsive care in the perinatal and early years, are warmly welcomed.

Western Infant and Perinatal MHPN is a network with a specific interest focus on Infant and Perinatal Mental Health. Network meetings consist of case studies, guest speakers and networking. This network aims to meet quarterly.
