MHPN has maintained a strong partnership with Equally Well since 2024, working in tandem on a range of online professional development and networking activities. Pioneering, collaborative, and data-driven, the organisation focuses on bringing the interplay between mental health and physical health to the forefront of public awareness and policy decision-making.
Equally Well engages with a growing number of primary health networks, professional bodies, and community-managed services to advocate for holistic person-centred care. While preventable physical health conditions continue to significantly shorten the lives of people with mental health challenges, Equally Well actively works towards health equity and improving statistics around mortality. Bolstered by the proven impact of co-design and innovation, it is also dedicated to amplifying the voices of those with lived experience.
Aligned with MHPN’s mission, Equally Well prioritises improving outcomes for all mental health consumers through collaborative practice. The organisation’s foundational element, the Equally Well National Consensus Statement, received formal endorsement from sector-wide key stakeholders in 2017 and contributes significantly to its growing success. Less than 10 years since Equally Well’s inception, the movement has developed hundreds of programs and initiatives, achieving measurable impact on health policy and clinical practice.
In February, Equally Well is hosting an online multidisciplinary forum for professionals to share insights and explore innovative approaches to physical and mental health care. The forum will be led by nurse practitioner, Trudy Brown, who will outline the revised Equally Well Victoria Framework as well as evidence underpinning the need for this update. It will also provide an opportunity for attendees to discover additional support avenues.
Delivered through the Equally Well Australia Community of Practice – Mental and Physical Health Professionals, this forum is open to all mental health professionals working in clinical settings, and requires free registration via MHPN’s portal. Signing up for an account is quick and easy. To register, click here.
