This network focuses on supporting the mentalhealth and wellbeing of young people from multiculturalcommunities in Adelaide including Western Adelaide and its surrounding region. Our aim is to strengthen collaboration among professionals and services through training, resource sharing, and innovative projects. Network meetings include: Training & Keynotes: Sessions on motivational approaches for AOD, harm minimisation, and strategies for working effectively with CALD communities on issues such as gambling, disability, and AOD. Resource Development: Co-creating guides on culturally appropriate language and communication for specific fields. Clinical Supervision: Exploring opportunities to train members as clinical supervisors and establish group supervision for ongoing professional support. Youth Engagement: Actively involving young people by inviting schools in the targeted region to participate in discussions and initiatives. The CALD MentalHealth Professionals Network in Adelaide is a community for mentalhealth professionals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to come together, share ideas, and learn from each other. While we’re based in Adelaide for in-person meet-ups, our network is open to CALD professionals across Australia through online meetings. This network is all about supporting each other in navigating the unique challenges we face when working with CALD communities, and promoting culturally inclusive mentalhealth care. It’s a space to swap stories, discuss best practices, and stay updated on cultural competency and professional development.
The Asian MentalHealth Professionals' Network (AMHPN) was founded by Josh Nguyen to foster connection, collaboration, and culturally responsive mental healthcare for Asian communities across Australia.The Network builds upon the Asian MentalHealth Professional Network Facebook community (since 2024), coordinated by Patrick Pham and Josh Nguyen, which brings together mentalhealth professionals, researchers, and students with a shared interest in Asian mentalhealth, multicultural practice, and workforce development.The Network is co-led by Karishma Rajan Menon and Josh Nguyen. Through quarterly hybrid meetings, guest speakers, case discussions, and professional networking events, we aim to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, share evidence-informed practice, and support culturally responsive mental healthcare for Asian communities.We welcome psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, counsellors, peer workers, and mentalhealth clinicians who are interested in advancing Asian mentalhealth in Australia.Network CoordinatorsJosh NguyenJosh Nguyen (He/him) is a clinical psychologist, researcher and community leader who is passionate about driving meaningful changes in mentalhealth systems, especially for marginalised communities. His work focuses on using AI to predict and prevent suicide in youth and determinants of mentalhealth among LGBTQ+ populations. Josh is running a psychology clinic in Parkville, providing psychological treatment to individuals and couples of LGBTQ+ and/or multicultural backgrounds. Karishma Rajan Menon Karishma Rajan Menon (she/her) is a clinical psychologist, supervisor and researcher committed to making evidence-based mentalhealth care more accessible and culturally responsive. Her work centres on attachment and skills-based interventions, and blended care models—spanning groups, community and digital delivery. Karishma also provides supervision to early career clinicians with particular focus on therapeutic processes and multiculturalmentalhealth. She practices privately and at Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD), St Vincent’s Hospital.
