MHPN is saddened to report the passing of Stephen Jackson, the former CEO of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses and representative director to MHPN’s Board from 2020 to 2022. Stephen did not recover from injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident whilst returning home after the National 100km Road Running Championships and passed away at Canberra Hospital on 26 February.

Stephen was a valued and generous contributor to MHPN in a range of ways. In addition to Board membership, he chaired the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee providing his expertise, kindness and wisdom to help guide MHPN through the difficult years of the pandemic.

“Stephen was incredibly well respected and liked by all who had the pleasure of working with him during his tenure at MHPN,” said CEO Chris Gibbs. “MHPN benefited enormously from his wise advice and his willingness to listen.”

MHPN’s board and staff extend our sympathies to Stephen’s partner Jenn, his family, his Bathurst community and the broader mental health community at this difficult time.
