Dr Cathy Ludbrook has qualifications in general adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. She worked in private practice from 1996 to 2020 with a particular interest in psychotherapy for young people with Borderline Personality Disorder and trauma related disorders. In keeping with this interest, she also worked part time in public health services with a focus on disadvantaged youth, many of whom had been under the Guardianship of the Minister. She is an accredited practitioner in Mentalization Based Therapy, an evidenced based therapy for BPD. In 2020 she took up the role of Clinical Lead with Borderline Personality Disorder Collaborative, a statewide specialist service in South Australia. Dr Ludbrook has had a long term interest in contributing to training of psychiatry registrars, initially at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and more recently as the psychotherapy tutor with the South Australian Psychiatry Branch Training Committee.
