Dr Elizabeth Riley

Dr Elizabeth Anne Riley (PhD, MACouns, BSc) is a Sydney-based counsellor, academic & clinical supervisor and specialises in gender diversity. Elizabeth has extensive experience working with client’s gender concerns and has a PhD titled ‘The needs of gender variant children and their parents’. Elizabeth provides support and counselling for children & adolescents with differences in gender identity and/or expression and their parents, trans youth, couples where a partner is transitioning and those seeking support for gender related surgery. Elizabeth also delivers professional development in gender diversity for schools, clinicians and other service providers.

Elizabeth is an advocate for the trans community and appears on stage for Mardis Gras interviewing transgender individuals. This has included Chaz Bono, Calpurnia Addams, Andrea James and Catherine MacGregor. Elizabeth media presence includes Insight, 60 Minutes, A Current Affair, The Project, ABC’s 7.30 and radio on ABC Radio National, JJJ, 2UE and others.

Elizabeth is currently the Chair of Ethics for the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Elizabeth is also a professional clinical member of PACFA, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and a founding member of the Australian & New Zealand Professional Association for Transgender Health (ANZPATH).
