Dr Katherine Petrie is an emerging early career researcher whose work focuses on mental health and suicide prevention in at-risk workforces and the general working population, utilising both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. She has particular expertise in mental ill-health among frontline workforces such as healthcare professionals and emergency service workers. Katherine received her PhD in Psychiatry from the University of New South Wales in 2024, where she investigated common mental disorders and suicidality among doctors-in-training in Australia. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Work and Mental Health team at the Black Dog Institute, where she is leading a multi-study project to understand and address suicidal ideation among Australian doctors, culminating in the co-design of a novel suicide prevention intervention for this at-risk workforce.
