Sarah Hellwege is a Registered Psychologist and the Founder and Director of Psychgroup Training & Advisory. This specialist consultancy focuses on advancing psychological health and safety in the workplace, working with organisations to apply psychosocial risk management practices. For more than 15 years, Sarah has also worked across Organisational Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety and regulatory enforcement, including a period at WorkSafe Victoria. She partners with organisations to assess psychosocial risk and embed psychologically safe practices that delivered measurable, lasting impact.
Sarah had a strong background in workplace rehabilitation and managing work-related psychological injuries. Central to her practice is a clear focus on the work factors that contribute to mental injury. She identifies how organisational systems, role design, workload and support structures influence recovery, using that understanding to shape prevention and rehabilitation strategies. Sarah has also developed innovative approaches to removing barriers to successful return to work, working with employers to integrate psychosocial risk controls into RTW planning that ensure workload, role clarity and supervisory support are effectively addressed. Her systems-focused interventions aim to create safer and more sustainable pathways back to meaningful work.
Sarah places heavy emphasis on building rapport with injured workers so they have a trusted advocate in the RTW process. She has secured a seat at the table with treating health practitioners, recognising them as key stakeholders in recovery and capacity decisions. She routinely supports the preparation and interpretation of Certificates of capacity, and facilitates referrals and treatment recommendations that align clinical care with workplace adjustments.
