Siân is a pharmacist, MPH, MBA and GAICD qualified and a current PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne Nossal Institute for Global Health. Combining global pharmaceutical sector experience, the MPH, and a passion for enabling patient-centred health systems globally, Siân is engaged in an international doctoral thesis researching the mechanisms enabling patients to navigate their healthcare as part of an overarching focus on person-centred value-based healthcare. Recognising the challenges facing patients every day, Siân is co-travelling her research with national and international policy and advocacy work in health navigation.
Following early career years in retail and hospital pharmacy, Siân joined the pharmaceutical industry in clinical development and has spent 25 years in leadership roles in research, development and commercialisation based out of the UK, France, the USA and Australia. Siân has loved the opportunity of leading global teams to design, develop and deliver regional and global capabilities in content, knowledge and medical information including “One Global Voice” and “Global Knowledge Velocity”.
Siân’s formative years working in HIV/AIDS R&D working with patient activists, health professionals and policy makers have created an unwavering focus on the importance of the patient.
Siân is a Director of the Leukaemia Foundation and of LiverWELL, and outgoing Chair of the Precision Health Community of Practice at the Australasian Institute of Digital Health. Globally, Siân sits on the Global Social Prescribing Network working with colleagues at the NHS in England, World Health Organization, and international partners to develop social prescribing as a capability in Australia and globally.
