Eating Disorders: Beyond the Unknown - Introduction

This series is brought to you in partnership by the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) and the Mental Health Professionals Network (MHPN). Join our co-hosts; Beth Shelton, psychologist and National Director of NEDC, and Belinda Caldwell, mother, carer and CEO of Eating Disorders Victoria, as they combine their insights and experience as service provider and carer to present a united and holistic approach to supporting people who are living with an eating disorder.

Over this four-part series, our co-hosts and invited guests will identify and challenge commonly held myths and stigma around eating disorders, explore the experience of eating and body image and how this relates to diagnoses such as anorexia nervosa, atypical anorexia, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder, as well as looking at the cycle of dieting and restrictive eating and how these can lead to eating disorders, across diagnostics presentations.

Listen in as these issues are explored, and gain valuable insight into how mental health practitioners can better talk with people about body image and eating behaviours, identify disordered eating and eating disorder signs and symptoms, and provide support and treatment for people living with an eating disorder, their families and supports.
