Dr Carter is the Clinical Operations Director at Deakin Private, and board-certified Psychiatrist accredited by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). She is sub-specialist trained in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. Ava is a registered Dental Surgeon and Churchill Fellowship recipient, and has a strong interest in the intersection of oral and mental health and education of young doctors. In her past 2 years as Board Director of the RANZCP, she saw the benefit of contributing to the growth and development of future generations, one that fosters a culture of continuous learning, research and innovation. Ava is a strong promotor of good governance, and is a member of the Medicines Advisory Council, and the Canberra Regional Medical Education Council. Her specific interests are eating disorders, grief and loss, first responders’ mental health, chronic illness distress, rTMS, and psycho-oncology. Ava enjoys working in areas of high need, and sees the future of the many challenges in healthcare being resolved through co-design and collaboration.
