Catherine has worked as a diabetes nurse educator for almost 10 years and has been working at Diabetes Australia-Vic for 5 years, mainly with adults with type 1 (as an accredited DAFNE educator- a 5 day self management program) and type 2 diabetes (type 2 diabetes information session) and diabetes information advice line. She has experience in paediatric diabetes education and insulin pumps.
Prior to Diabetes Australia – Vic, Catherine worked, in a busy multicultural community health centre as part of a multidisciplinary diabetes education team which involved triaging, assessing and educating inpatients (psychiatric, rehabilitation and extended care wards), outpatients and community patients with diabetes, and, delivering in service and external education sessions to nurses and allied health professionals.
