St John of God Raphael Centres provide a range of services to parents and families affected by anxiety, stress, or depression during pregnancy and following childbirth. Caroline’s focus has been on the infant-parent relationship, and on working psychotherapeutically with parents in a way that includes reflection on attachment relationships.
Her research interest is on the transition to parenthood. Other interests include developing innovative programs for engaging hard-to-reach groups within the field of perinatal and infant mental health.
Caroline is currently involved in a research program known as the Take Up of Postnatal Services. The program aims to survey about 3500 WA women who have had a baby at a private hospital in a six-month period last year to see how they managed with the physical and psychological demands of motherhood.
