Dr. Clive Allcock is currently a “semi working” psychiatrist who has spent thirty-five years of his career being involved with people who suffer from problems with gambling as a part of his work in psychiatry. He has also seen gambling from the other side, being a regular small punter on horse racing, a member of the Australian Turf Club and a director and racing manager of a company that raced and bred horses. Over the years he has presented papers at national and international conferences and been involved as sole or joint author for papers and articles on gambling and problem gambling (now called gambling disorder). In 2015 he was made one of the first life members of the National Association for Gambling Studies in Australia – an organisation he helped found many years ago.
