John is a clinical psychologist and Senior Lecturer, School of Psychological Science, La Trobe University ,Melbourne, Victoria and Consultant Clinical Psychologist, North Western Mental Health, Melbourne. He has 30 years experience in public mental health services.
His clinical work and teaching has specialised in psychotic disorders and his research has investigated the nature of psychotic symptoms and the effectiveness and dissemination of evidence-based services and therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Behavioural Family Therapy.
He has been a Chief Investigator of randomised controlled trials of both CBT and ACT for people with psychosis.
