Dr Paul Fung is a psychiatrist and Clinical Director of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Services at Uniting NSW & ACT. Over the past decade he has been implementing and designing a range of place-based clinical and psychosocial programs across metro and regional NSW in the Community-Managed Sector in partnership with Primary Health Networks, Local Health Districts and Orygen Youth Health.

Paul has an interest in population-based approaches to mental wellbeing and the development of a connected community mental health system. He is Deputy Commissioner at the Mental Health Commission of NSW and a member of the NSW Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy Working Group. He was the recipient of the Paul Tys Churchill Fellowship where he examined models in the USA, UK and NZ that integrate mental health with general practice, connect primary and secondary care, and address the social determinants of health.

Paul enjoys training the next generation of mental health clinicians, psychiatry registrars and GPs. He currently holds the position of Psychiatry Academic Lead at HETI and is a member of the Higher Education Academic Board. He was Chair of the binational RANZCP Section of Early Career Psychiatrists supporting the career development of junior psychiatrists, later representing Australia and NZ on the World Psychiatric Association Section of Early Career Psychiatrists board. He completed a Fellowship in Global Mental Health with the NSW Institute of Psychiatry working with clinicians and leaders from four Pacific Island Countries, WHO Geneva and Transcultural Mental Health Centre.
