Erin Halligan

Director, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention for LGBTIQ+ Health Australia

Erin joined LGBTIQ+ Health Australia as the Director for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in August 2022. She brings with her extensive experience in drug and alcohol, mental health, and suicide prevention programs and policy, from both government and non-government sectors. Erin is passionate about mental health and suicide prevention in the LGBTIQ+ community and has been an advocate on lived experience panels and advisory committees for the NSW Mental Health Commission and for Suicide Prevention Australia.

She has also worked in HIV/AIDS prevention in Bangladesh with UNAIDS and CARE Bangladesh, working directly with communities providing harm minimisation and primary health care support.

Erin is very committed to lived experience and peer inclusion in the development and design of programs and policies, particularly in mental health and suicide prevention, and the establishment of strong collaborative partnerships with government and community stakeholders.
