Guy has worked for 30 years as a clinical psychologist in public mental health facilities and specialist psychological trauma services. Guy’s primary focus has been the assessment and psychological treatment of asylum seekers and refugees. He worked part time for two decades in the Psychological Trauma Recovery Service at the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre providing assistance to veterans, police and emergency service personnel.
Guy is currently the Practice Development Advisor at the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture. In addition to his clinical work, Guy provides consultancy to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Department of Home Affairs and other organisations on psychological and legal issues. He also works as a lawyer acting for asylum seekers at tribunals and courts.
