Professor Viviana Wuthrich is a Professor in the School of Psychological Sciences, Centre for Emotional Health, Macquarie University and a Medical Research Future Fund Emerging Leader 2 Fellow (2021-2025).
A clinical psychologist, she is also the Director of the Centre for Ageing, Cognition and Wellbeing, as well as the National Convenor of the Australian Psychological Society’s Psychology and Ageing Interest Group. Her research interests relate to developing and evaluating psychosocial interventions, with a particular interest in older adult mental health.
Her research includes the development and evaluation in clinical trials of psychological interventions to reduce anxiety, depression and reduce risk for dementia, and translation of these programs into public and private mental health settings. She is evaluating a dementia risk reduction intervention in primary care, as well as leading three large clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to improve mental health in older adults.
