Sameera is an Occupational Therapist with a masters in public health. She works at World Wellness Group as coordinator of the newly set up Multicultural Connect Line.
Sameera is passionate about health, equity and justice to drive change in order to deliver culturally responsive health and social care. As a lecturer and sessional academic, Sameera taught courses that encouraged occupational therapy students to develop skills to work with individuals, groups and populations experiencing social disadvantage. She has also worked in aged care as part of a pain management program where she was exposed to the need to advocate for change and culturally responsive care in some aspects of the sector.
Outside of work time, Sameera is a Co-Director of the Socio-Health-Lab at the University of Queensland and she also does private therapy with people from multicultural backgrounds.
