Stephanie Mendis

Social Worker, Vic

Stephanie Mendis has worked as a social worker for nearly twenty years. She has worked with young people and adults across sectors including mental health, AOD, housing, seeking asylum/refugee, ACCOs (Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation) and family violence.

Steph has held a number of roles with different organisations, including leadership and supervision roles and direct practice roles.

Steph endeavours to be client-led in her practice and she has an interest in how cross-cultural conversations are defined and imagined. Steph brings her lived experience of working within organisations as a woman of colour and is curious about our role as workers to challenge ideas of privilege and power.

Since 2017 Steph has worked in training and capacity development and as a consultant and facilitator.

The Mental Health Professionals’ Network (MHPN) respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri and the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nation, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which our office is situated. We also acknowledge Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
