Mel commenced with MHPN as the Head of Networks in September 2025.
Mel has several decades experience working within the University setting, and specifically supporting rural health workforce initiatives, under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program. Mel has extensive experience in leading teams across vast geographical locations, implementing systems improvement and supporting aspiring medical, allied health and nursing students undertake study within the community, largely in primary health care settings.
Mel has spent the last three years with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, initially managing the team that supports Faculty, Section, Network and Partnership Committees, and more recently as the Partnerships Manager; building relationships, providing forums for networking, shepherding the Lived and Living Experience Strategy and managing a team of dedicated cultural, administrative and project professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
Mel’s passion lies within improving outcomes for regional, rural and remote communities. Mel is excited to support the Networks program to deliver place-based and contemporary, collaborative opportunities that reflect the needs of our changing health workforce and the communities they serve.
